Finally made a box-joint jig that I like. More or less a hybrid design between a Woodsmith Mag and a Woodworkers Journal Article.

The actual jig carriage is removable from the dual slot miter-gauge and can be interchanged with other jigs for different sizes. The capacity of this jig has 14" on both sides of the blade, but I think a 24" wide piece is safely doable.

The dual slot miter-gauge came from Woodsmith and the jig came from Woodworkers Journal. If interested PM me and I can send a pdf of the jig carriage.

Whatcha think?

I like it, Rick. It did take a minute for me to realize the long flat pieces at the back were to protect you from the blade. And the miter slot pieces are a great idea!!!

Sent you a PM--I wouldn't mind building one like this--thanks for the pdf file offer

Verna

Thanks for the remarks all. I have started my first project (MiataScope) building a prototype out of regular plywood and the joints were spot on.

So far this jig is passing with flying colors.

Great work Rix! Looks like it'd work more like a sled, nice and stable.
