This is what I like to see, a great project being constructed out in the yard in the dirt, my kind of handyperson. I'll bet it'll be just as nice as if you had built it in a million dollar shop. I'm sure your Mom will really like it. I dig your saw horses too!!

Great start on that stand. I'd planned to build one just like it a couple of years ago, for the wife, but she said she didn't have the floorspace to put it, and I had to go more verticle. To be honest though, I really like the bleacher design like yours. It gives the plants more light and gives you better access to them. 8)

BEGINNERWOODWORKER: Considering the weight of the plants,pots, soil and such. Do you think there is any chance for racking if the stand is bumped from either end? I note that the top shelf is dado'd into the side pieces but I'm not sure that support would be sufficient to prevent an accident.
