I had the glue brush working this weekend, managed to get a decent portion of the top together. I'm using biscuts to align the boards during clamping, even so there are some edges that do not align.

I glue 4 boards on at a time, then clamp the heck out of it.

I'll cut it to length once all the boards are on. I might be spending the fall trying to flatten it out. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for looking.

ED AVERY: A question of curiosity. When you are gluing up, do you clamp tight first or install the caul's and clamps first then clamp tight?

Coming along nicely Ed. I've glued up lots of panels, and yet to have one perfectly flat right out of the cauls, even with biscuts. Nature of the beast I think.

Newtooth, I'm working both in tandem, but trying to apply the full force to the cauls before clamping tight. Several of the boards have a pretty good twist, I like to think they are the trouble makers in this process. I'm sure it's not me.

What is the final width you are aiming for? I would be tempted to glue up sub-assemblies that would be narrow enough to fit through my planer to allow initial leveling of the individual sections before the final glue up. That would only leave one or two joints needing leveling after the final glue-up.

Good Luck!
