A friend on the British forum came across this idea. It beats using the 'dropping-fingers' method of copy turning because it fills in the gaps.

I'm wondering though whether making the flaps out of thin ply with a simple hinge at the back maybe made of cloth webbing might be a possible improvement?

Ray,
Thank you very much for this video.
It is one of those why didn't I think of that things?!
I turn spinles, legs etc. for a small local furniture restoration and repair business.
For one spindle it may not take any longer to just go by the "eyeball" method, but for more than one copy, this is a really clever idea.

Nice concept. I'll have to give it a try next time. 8)
