I'm planning on making my grandaughter (14yrs old) some earrings for Christmas. I haven't been very successful finding hardware, studs or wire hangers, on the web. Hoping to avoid the agony of wading through sites at 37kbs I'm coming to the well for advice.

They'll have to be sterling silver since she's had trouble with reaction to other metals. Also, I've never tried this before so if anyone has any examples or suggestions with regard to design I'm all .... uhhhh .... ears.

Don't know about the hardware part of your question, but you might want to check out these posts (if you haven't already)

My daughter played around with making jewelry, ear rings and necklaces, for awhile and got supplies at "Michaels" and "Hobby Lobby". They are craft stores, not sure if they are in your area or not.

We've got a Michael's locally, Bill, I'll try there. A Google search turned up the thread from days or yore here in the forum, JohnBoy, which provided some inspiration.

Thanks for the speedy replies.

They're called "findings" in the trade, so a search for "jewelry findings" will come up with a bunch of sources.

e.g. http://www.firemountaingems.com/findings.asp
